Agnes Water/1770 Fishing Report 15th July 2010

Agnes Water/1770 Bait & Tackle

Bait fishing the beach gutters and estuary mouths has produced some good catches of flathead, bream, tarwhine and nice size whitting. the larger flathead are hanging around the rocky reef in some of the deeper channels. In the upper reaches the deep rock holes hav prodced o few nice pikey bream, its also still possible to tempt a jack using live bait.
Squid are moving into the estuarys with the cooler water and make for a tasty feed. small prawn jigs do the trick.
A couple of Quality spanish macks have been caught, these from both bustard head (to the north) and also from Roundhill head. School macks have been reorted in numbers out wide of the coast.
Reef fishing has bought in some good catches with snapper and nannygai being common. a few nice reds have come in from isolated areas, also reports of trout from the shallow grounds on northern reefs.
tight lines, happy fishing.
